Ready to Speak Up? We're Meeting a PEI MP, and We Want You on the Team.

Hey everyone,
Ever feel like you’re doing all the right things (recycling, reducing waste, showing up to cleanups) but you want to do more? Ever wish you could take your concerns about the climate crisis directly to the people in charge?
Well, now’s your chance.
The UPEI Climate Action Association is partnering with a national organization called My Climate Plan to launch their Politician Outreach Pilot (POP) campaign right here on PEI. We are putting together a small, dedicated team of students to meet face-to-face with a local Member of Parliament.
This is more than just a meeting, it's a chance to build your skills!
The best part about this program is that you won't be going in unprepared. The POP campaign is designed to give you all the tools you need to be a confident and effective advocate for our planet.
As a participant, you will receive:
- Training on how to tell your personal story powerfully.
- Resources to help you understand key policy issues, like fossil fuel subsidies and active transport.
- The opportunity to build real-world leadership and public speaking skills.
The goal is to get our local politicians to take the "Let Us In" pledge, a commitment to listening to and working with young people, the ones with the most at stake in the climate crisis.
We're Looking for Our Delegation
We are currently recruiting for 8 passionate UPEI students under the age of 30 to form our first-ever youth climate delegation.
If this sounds like an opportunity you don’t want to miss, we want to hear from you. Please send us a DM on Instagram (@upei.climate) or email us at caas@upeisu.ca to express your interest.
You don’t need to be a policy expert or a professional public speaker. You just need to be passionate about our planet's future.
